Netball 2015-2016

Torbridge Family High Five Netball

Tuesday 20th October 2015—Perfect weather for some High 5 Netball. 6 teams came along to Tor Bridge High this afternoon to take part in our annual Primary Netball competition. Teams from Bickleigh Down, Leigham, Tor Bridge and Woodfield all took part in the friendly event with young leaders from Tor Bridge High umpiring all of the games. It was great to see so many children taking part and a real mixture of abilities—with some children who have played before and some who were getting to grips with all of the positions. Bickleigh Down A team were the overall winners on the day with Tor Bridge Primary coming a close second. In 3rd place were Woodfield who did incredibly well considering their team was newly formed. The competition turned out to be very close fought and in some cases we had to calculate the number of goals scored by each team to determine their overall position and in one case then had to go on the number of goals scored against (full results below). I thought that everyone played incredibly well—congratulations to all who took part—I hope you had a great afternoon.

PSSP High 5 Netball

On the 19th and 20th January we competed in the PSSP High 5 Netball at Marjons. 42 schools across Plymouth competed in total and we placed 6th after getting through to the Finals. So congratulations to our girls! For more details see below.

Day 1

Today saw 23 schools competing for a place in the finals on Wednesday 20th January.

There was a fantastic atmosphere and it was lovely to see the children thriving on the competitive atmosphere whilst supporting each other at the same time.

  • Group 4 winners were Woodford who won all their games and scored 13 goals
  • Group 5 winners were Goosewell who scored 34 goals winning all four of their games.
  • Group 6 winners were Bickleigh Down who just piped Widey Court on goal difference to proceed to the next round.

Day 2: The Finals.

This morning, the 7 winners of the group stages turned up to play in the finals.

The games played today showed some great skill and had a really competitive edge to them; it was quite tense to watch at times!
