Level 2 QuadKids

Our first event of the year was the Level 2 Year 5/6 Quadkids, held at Brickfields on Wednesday 28th April 2021. Eight teams took part and were split into two groups of four. Every team competed in the 75m sprint, 600m run, standing long jump and vortex. We also finished with a 4x100m relay, where schools ran, socially distanced, two teams at a time.

Some fantastic results were achieved by every school, with great commitment and determination by all. The overall winners of the event were Montpelier, with Bickleigh Down in second place and Compton in third place.

Foundation Stage Balanceability

Our Foundation Stage children have had the opportunity to participate in balanceability  sessions this week and have had great fun learning to ride bikes.  The children mastered the skills quickly and progressed onto scooting on their own, following tracks and passing games which tested their ability to take one hand off the handlebars whilst riding.  All of the children who participated in the sessions were a real credit to our school, showing brilliant team work and co-operation as well as real enthusiasm. It was wonderful to watch the children participate, clearly enjoying the experience and their success, with so much energy and big smiles.

QuadKids Athletics Event

Our Year Four children managed to dodge the showers on Wednesday 12th May to take part in the QuadKids athletics event.

Seven schools took part, competing in four events. The field events were vortex throw and standing long jump and then on the track each young athlete took part in a 50m sprint and a 400m run.

There were some fantastic results from each team but most importantly lots of smiling faces! It was lovely to see schools cheering each other on from the stands and demonstrating each School Games Value across the day.  Bickleigh Down came in first place with 1,438 points.

Well done to each and every one of our children.   They should be proud of their efforts and determination.
