Welcome to Year Four.  

The teaching team this year is Miss Willis and Miss Gayatao. Miss Crane is the Teaching Assistant with Miss Parkison and Mrs Honey remaining with the year group to support specific children, The teachers’ planning time is on a Tuesday morning when Miss Freeman and Mr Harden will teach RE and Computing. If you wish to speak to any of the staff, please arrange an appointment through the office.    

• PE will be on Mondays and Thursdays.  As the weather will be getting cooler, can children please make sure they have warmer PE clothes for our outdoor sessions. 

• This year, children will not receive weekly homework. Instead, we encourage families to support children with times tables, reading and spelling. Children should read every day, please encourage your child to read aloud to you and ask them questions about what they have read to check their understand. 
• Spelling tests will be on a Tuesday – these words can be found below.  Children should practise their weekly spellings and record their practice in their spelling practice book. Please remember to LOOK, COVER, WRITE, CHECK to help practise.  

• Children should practise their times tables using Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS). 

This half term we are looking into Florida for our geography topic and understanding that there is more to the Sunshine State than Disneyland.  In science, we are going to be looking at how we group and classify living things. In PE, on Mondays, children will take part in cricket sessions led by an external crickets coach and on Thursdays, we will begin to develop our skills in cross-country running and netball. In DT, we will be making our own pencil cases. 

In maths, we will be looking at place value and understanding the relationship between the columns.  

Our books this half term in English is “An interview with a Tiger and other beasts too" by Andy Seed and “I Don’t Believe it Archie!” by Andrew Norriss.
