SIAMS Inspections

In accordance with Section 48 of the Education Act 2005, all Church of England schools are subject to the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) under the schedule provided by the Church of England Education Office.

We had our recent SIAMS inspection on Wednesday 22nd June 2022.

As part of the process, the inspector looked in detail at the seven strands, the progress of pupils (including in RE), our relationship with the community, opportunities for all members of the school community to explore their spirituality, and our impact as global citizens.

The inspector also explored the question: “How effective is the school’s distinctive Christian vision, established and promoted by leadership at all levels, in enabling pupils and adults to flourish?”

One overall grade was awarded reflecting the contribution of these strands to the flourishing of pupils and adults in our Church School. In addition, a standalone grade was awarded for the impact of collective worship and the effectiveness of Religious Education. With the introduction of the new SIAMS framework in September 2018, it made it far more difficult for schools to achieve the highest grade. The new criteria are exceptionally rigorous and challenging; exploring the way a school strives to fulfil the seven strands. However challenging, we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded an overall grade of Excellent (the highest grade) and were also judged to be Excellent in the impact of collective worship and the effectiveness of Religious Education. Nationally, we are the first school to have been deemed ‘Excellent’ since the COVID-19 pandemic under this new framework!

We are 'Excellent'!
