Proposal for variation to the admissions arrangements for September 2021

The Governing Body are seeking a variation to the admission arrangements for 2021 to add the following wording:

“ In the event that during the period specified for attendance at worship the church [or, in relation to those of other faiths, relevant place of worship] has been closed for public worship and has not provided alternative premises for that worship, the requirements of these [admissions] arrangements in relation to attendance will only apply to the period when the church [or in relation to those of other faiths, relevant place of worship] or alternative premises have been available for public worship”.

This request is made in order that parents seeking admission to the school can readily determine what the admissions oversubscription criteria are and how they may be met, and thereby enable the school to deal lawfully, fairly and transparently with admissions matters in the exceptional circumstances of the COVID19 pandemic.

Admissions for Foundation Stage 2022

With Devon cases being high, we are currently restricting the number of visitors to school in order  to maximise the educational provision we are offering to our children.   Our risk assessment is constantly under review and we are currently looking at ways in which we can invite prospective parents and carers into our school whilst mitigating risk of increased infection.  Please contact the school or visit the school website towards the end of October when we hope to have an update on whether the open days will run virtually or face to face this year.

You can also contact the school if you have any questions as we are only too happy to help.

We have filmed some of the school so that you are able to meet us and find out about the school and our Foundation Stage virtually.   You will find other useful information about how to apply for a school place and the Devon and Plymouth admissions booklets.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school via the admin email address: admin@bickleighdown.devon.sch.uk or by telephone: 01752 301837.
