White Rose Maths Update

Reading at Home

During the school closure, we really hope that children continue to read for pleasure and develop a love of books.

Y1 - Y6

We have taken the decision to allow children to take quizzes on the Accelerated Reader system at home.  Access will be permitted throughout the school closure.  Children can access their account by clicking on the link below:

They will need to use their school username and password, which they should know.  If you have difficulties with this, please contact the school via the admin email address.

In order to support reading at home, children can access a wide range of books on this website:

To search for a book within their reading level, you will need to click on ‘Search’ and then choose the ‘ATOS’ tab.  Your child needs to select the broad level (e.g. if they are reading 6.4 books in school, they need to select 6) and then choose a book from the selection.  Please don’t worry about finding the exact reading level as we would in school -  it is far more important for children to be reading regularly and enjoying it.  Please ensure that you turn off the sound button as children should be reading the books they will quiz on independently.  If you do choose to allow your child to listen to the stories for pleasure, please do not allow them to take a quiz on it.  Once your child has finished the book, they can log into Accelerated Reader and take a quiz on it in the same way they would in school.  Your child’s classteacher will monitor the children’s reading time and quiz scores and contact you if they need to discuss any scores or reading information with you.  This might be by email or by telephone if they are in school.

Daily phonics lessons online – Read Write Inc

These lessons use the RWI scheme which we follow in school.  It would be great if all Foundation Stage, Year One and Year Two children could access these daily.

Daily phonics lessons set 1 at 9.30 and repeated at 12.30, set 2 at 10.00 and 1.00, set 3 at 10.30 and 1.30.  Each lesson is available for 24hours after the live streaming.
